Careades huntei

This Caterpillar has been found on in a Cairns nursery on:

  • Golden Penda ( Xanthostemon chrysanthus, MYRTACEAE ).

    The larva is quite unusual in that in life it has a large dorsal rounded swelling behind a large heavily sclerotised pronotal shield.

    The adult moth of this species is brown with three dark lines across each forewing. The hindwings are dark grey. The wingspan is about 3 cms.

    The species has been found in New Guinea and Australia.
