This Caterpillar is an agricultural pest, causing damage to pastures and crops. The Caterpillar is very similar to that of Persectania ewingii.

The adult moth has fawn forewings with a pattern of pale and dark lines. The hind wings are buff, darkening to the margin, with dark veins. It has a wingspan of about 4 cms.

The species has been found in every state of Australia.

Control of the pest may effected using :

  • the nematode Steinernema carpocapsae ( STEINERNEMATIDAE ).
