These Caterpillars are thought to feed on plants from the family APOCYNACEAE.
The adult butterflies of this species are brownish black, with a few white spots on the undersides of the hindwings. The adult butterflies have a wing span around 7 cms.

Various subspecies are found in New Guinea and Indonesia, and resarta is found on Cape York in Australia.
