The adult butterflies of this species are chocolate brown on top, with some white spots near each forewing apex, and an arc of white spots around the inner margin of each hindwing. The undersides are similar with the addition of a scattering of small blue spots under each wing.

Various subspecies are found in Australasia and south-east Asia, including :

  • Vietnam, and
  • lorzae in Borneo.
