The Caterpillars of this species are green pseudo-loopers. They have sparse hairs with white tips. The Caterpillars feed on various members of the family ASTERACEAE. The specimen above was found on

  • Flaxleaf Fleabane ( Conyza bonariensis ),

    but has been recorded on plants from other families, including:

  • Chinese Lantern Tree ( Dichrostachys cinerea, FABACEAE ).

    It grows to a length of about 3 cms., and pupates in a loose cocoon in a curled up leaf.


    The adults are fawn with a prominent white bar diagonally across each forewing. They have a wingspan of about 3 cms. The sex attractant pheromones of this moth have been elucidated.

    The species is found all over east Asia and the Pacific, inclding:

  • Borneo,
  • Hong Kong,
  • Japan, and most of
  • Australia.
