The adult male and female moths of this species are different. The female has white wings with four dark brown bands across each forewing and one across each hindwing. There is also a line of white spots along each forewing margin. The body is brown with a golden tuft of hairs on the tail. She has a wingspan of about 5.5 cms. The male is brown with similar markings to the female, and additionally has two gold spots on each forewing. The male has a wingspan of about 4.5 cms.

The species is found only in the south west quarter of Australia
