This caterpillar is pale yellow with tufts of short stiff hairs along each side of the body. The head is large, and the body tapers towards the tail. The caterpillar is aquatic, feeding on waterweeds.
The wings of the adult moth have a striking pattern of brown and white, and the hindwings are edged with a series of black spots. The wingspan is about 1.7 cms.
