WORKSPACE NETWORKS FOR KNOWLEDGE SHARING
Igor Hawryszkiewycz
The paper address one important question -
How do you establish an electronic workspace
that enables you to work with other people towards agreed upon goals. In
fact the workspace should help you to establish these goals?
There are now many examples where such activities
take place. These include:
-
providing advice to clients or interested parties
within enterprises
-
extending enterprises to clients for participation
and feedback,
-
managing the distribution of information and knowledge
to widespread communities
-
maintaining alliances between businesses and units
either directly or through brokers
-
helping innovation through facilitating processes
of exchange of information between people
developing knowledge for decision making or for
planning.
The other question is what are organizational
entities that will support such workspaces. These roles wiull increasingly
fall within the jurisdication of knowledge officers, now increasignly found
in progressive knowledge intensive companies.
You can perhaps use this presentation as an example of knowledge
sharing. What I am trying to do is share material on workspace networks
with.
Perhaps the first step in knowledge sharing is to share the same terminology
and have the same perspectives.
To do this there is some background material so that we get onto common
ground and understand what is meant by terms used in this presentation.
| BACKGROUND MATERIAL
Electronic Commerce we see this
going beyond simply transaction based purchases
New ways of working where
people work across distance
Knowledge Sharing which calls
for the interpretation of different viewpoints to some common goal.

WHAT
ARE THE IMPORTANT ISSUES?
Setting the context
Easy access to knowledge
Supporting dynamic tream structures
Maintaining awareness
Process support. |
| |
We are concentrating
on one aspect of electronic commerce
THIS IS
Maintenance of relationships and sharing of
knowledge between team members.
It includes teams such as:
Cross-function teams in organizations.
Client support sites.

We have been developing a system that
supports all these requirements. It is called
LiveNet |

Some important LiveNet terms.
LiveNet itself is based on a model that uses a set of defined terms
and concepts.
You can find a definition of these terms here. |
You can enter our LiveNet here
